 OILY SKIN

I hardly wear any make-up because I think my skin is too oily and whenever I do I am always tempted to either wipe or wash my face. I have tried a number of products that claim to help this problem but so far I have seen very little success. Are there anything daily procedures or products you could recommend to efficiently combat this daily shine?

Yes to both or your questions. Don’t dislike your oily skin, it has its advantages, you will age more gracefully. My advice is to get into a regular skin care routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing everyday twice daily, choose products that are suitable for your skin type, which is oily.  Use a mask and a scrub once to three times per week. (Of recent the scrub formulas are gentler on the skin, some are even designed for everyday use. For best results follow the manufacturers directions) Most women think this takes too much time, simply implement this into your bath routine, its easy as 1-2-3.  When it comes to choosing skin care products I recommend that you develop an intimate relationship with your skin so as to choose product(s) that will be most compatible for your skin type.  You can also combine products from one line with another but the best results are achieved when you use products from the same manufacturer.  Be consistent, use a product to the end or at least 6-8 weeks before deciding that it does not work and ensure your moisturizer has at least SPF15. Avon has some great lines for all skin types and ages, try True Pore-Fection by Avon or my personal favourite Pure Zone by Loreal if you have skin that is prone to break outs and Skin Genesis by Loreal if you are in your 30’s/40’s.

Take care from inside out; take your vitamins, especially E & C, drink lots of water, and include lots of fruits and vegetables into your diet.

Select a foundation that is oil-free, usually the liquid foundations are water base.  My skin is also very oily and I would absolutely recommend Revelon Colour Stay Foundation in a shade that blends in with your skin tone.  After applying foundation use a sheet of facial tissue to gently blot away excess, next apply a translucent powder to set foundation to further achieve a matte finish.  As the day go by to maintain freshness I suggest blotting with tissue or blotting paper and if it’s necessary blot the t-zone area (forehead, nose and cheeks) with either your translucent or press power.

  1. I can relate to this topic since i have combination skin..really difficult to handle and recently i have been suffering with minor acne……with all this i have cut out the use of make up completely but nothing much has changed so im definitely gonna try the 1-2-3-4 steps and see the results. Thanks for the advice
