Let’s Talk About Eyelashes

Let’s talk about Lashes & Eye Makeup.
They say our eyes are the window to our soul, if this is even remotely true then it would make more sense to wear makeup in such a way that it will be complementary to our eyes rather than be a distraction.
For most women, I think eyes are one of their most attractive features on the face. So whenever I do makeup on others or my own makeup, I only wear what will enhance. I believe it’s more interesting to rock eye makeup color in such a way that it teases the person looking at you rather than create a distraction. The right colors are flattering to not only your skin tone, but it will enhance the color of your eyes, and create the illusion that your iris is lighter than it really is. For example, certain shades of green will enhance brown eyes.

And OMG when it comes to lashes, the concept of what doesn’t distract is even more imperative. Think about this, you spend over an hour applying or getting your makeup done and then the look gets overpowered by the wrong choice of eyelashes, that are way too bold for the look or using lashes that are definitely meant for stage appearance or for drag queens. Does this make sense? The purpose of eyelashes is meant to enhance and or compliment a look.
This is a big one, overshadowing. Beauty influencers seem to be obsessed with how many colors they can block in on the eyes, don’t get me wrong, it’s all cute, but, everything has its place. The average woman doesn’t need that many colors to make her look amazing, as a matter of fact; too many eye shadow colors on the eyes, paired with overly dramatic lashes make your eyes appear heavy and by extension will make you look older. Keep colors to a bare minimum of two to 3 and do ensure they complement each other. Study the color wheel for guidance and check my blog on placement for guidance. Oh please don’t wear all the primary colors together. Thank you lol.
Whenever you are going out on a date, I will forever recommend makeup that is soft, sensual, romantic, (wink, wink) think less is more. Your potential partner or date should never have to wonder what you look like under all that makeup. Let the person see you.
My personal eye makeup style is, keep it very simple and if and when I choose to add a pair of strip or individual lashes it is with the intent of enhancing the look. When you wear eye makeup that is pretty you want it to be seen; big bushy lashes will only hide your look and can overpower the overall finish of the look.
Don’t take my word, just try it. Less is more sophisticated and classy and not to mention very classic and timeless. Makeup is fun!
