Who is Paulla De Souza? She is an experienced International Hair and Makeup Professional who has over 20 plus years of working experience in various aspects of the beauty industry. She has worked in almost every area, education, film, fashion, theatre, bridal, and beauty/editorial, both local, regional, and international. Paulla had the privilege of traveling to over 17 countries, which included, Ghana, The UK, and South America to name a few, working and sharing her craft.
Her Projects: She recently worked as a Beauty Ambassador for the Paris based brand blackUp Paris, and as an ambassador for Revlon. Film work includes Assistant on Bazodee, Head makeup artist on The Apartment, Pan A Musical Odessey, National Geographic Locked Up Abroad, Episode – A Caribbean Nightmare, Westwood Park, Season 1-3, Barbados Fashion Week, Beauty Director for Meiling Collections, UWI InStyle 2017 & Styleweek 2018. During her most recent years, she decided to focus more on bridal, beauty, fashion, and social makeup.
Personal Career Accomplishment: Being a nominee in the Best Makeup Artist Category in 2008 & 2009 hosted by the Caribbean Fashion Awards based in Barbados
Her beginning: She started out as a hairdresser in her early teens, did her first bride at 16 but did not pursue makeup until it found her several years later. Though she has always been more or less self-taught, she credited the impeccable eye she developed to her many opportunities working alongside some very talented makeup artists both local and international that helped to nurture her skills and by extension improve her technique.
Her Exposure & Education: Her first international exposure came from working alongside Valente Frazier, Tyra Bank’s makeup artist, who was a key makeup artist for Barbados Fashion week in 2004. She has since completed several editorial masterclasses with some internationally renowned makeup artists, Danessa Myricks, Monifa Mortis, Danny Sans(Makeup Forever), and Marietta Carter-Narcisse Hollywood makeup film and television Guru
